Hyperactivity in ADHD – Early Intervention For A Better Future.

A mother’s testimony

Hyperactivity in ADHD

I am a mother of 3 wonderful children aged 5 to 11. However, the past couple of weeks have been a bit concerning to me. The subject of concern, our youngest son’s behavior. He seems to be more hyperactive than usual, getting him to sit or stand still even for a couple of seconds seems to be a challenge because he is always running and jumping around.

We have received numerous reports from his class teacher saying he keeps talking continuously and refuses to remain quiet when he is told to; making him unable to concentrate in class. We have also noticed he has become increasingly fidgety, restless, and impatient. He also makes hand and feet gesture when anxious or nervous. As a parent, I am worried about him. I wish he would just be able to behave normally both at home and in school.

One child diagnosed with autism every 20 minutes in the UAE

Statistics indicate that every 20 minutes, a child is diagnosed with autism in the UAE and one out of every 110 children is autistic, said an official.

This pervasive disorder affects tens of millions worldwide and the world is still struggling to fully understand this condition, which first appeared in the early 1900s.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

ADHD similar to hyperkinetic disorder is a neurodevelopmental psychiatric disorder in which there are significant problems with executive functions (e.g., attentional control and inhibitory control) that causes attention deficits, hyperactivity, or impulsiveness which is not appropriate for a person’s age.

Understanding the Science behind ADHD

A neuron or nerve cell is an electrically excitable cell that processes and transmits information through electrical and chemical signals which occur via synapses, the specialized connections with other cells.

Neurons are the core components of the brain and the spinal cord of the central and peripheral nervous system. Specialized types of neurons include sensory neurons which respond to touch, sound, light, and all other stimuli affecting the cells of the sensory organs.

People with neurodevelopmental disorders have impairments of the growth and development of the brain or central nervous system. A narrower use of the term refers to a disorder of brain function that affects emotion, learning ability, self-control, and memory and that unfolds as the individual grows.

A hyperkinetic disorder is a psychiatric syndrome emerging in early childhood that features an enduring pattern of severe, developmentally inappropriate inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity across different settings (e.g., home and school) that significantly impair academic, social, and work performance. Hyperkinetic children display disorganized, poorly controlled and excessive activity.

What causes hyperactivity?

According to traditional medical researchers, the actual cause of ADHD is not known. Scientific evidence suggests that the disorder is genetically transmitted in many cases and results from a chemical imbalance or deficiency in certain neurotransmitters, which are chemicals that help the brain regulate behaviour.

Identifying a child with ADHD

Symptoms of hyperactivity in children:

  1. Constantly fidgets and squirms
  2. Often leaves his/her seat in situations where sitting quietly is expected
  3. Excessive activity (moves around constantly, often runs or climbs inappropriately)
  4. Talks excessively
  5. Has difficulty playing quietly or relaxing
  6. Is always “on the go,” as if driven by a motor
  7. May have a quick temper or a “short fuse”

In addition to these problems, depending on the child’s age and developmental stage, parents and teachers may see temper tantrums, frustration, anger, bossiness, difficulty in following rules, disorganization, social rejection, low-self esteem, poor academic achievement, and inadequate self-application.

Living with ADHD

Whether or not your child’s symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity are due to ADD/ADHD, they can cause many problems if left untreated. Children who can’t focus and control themselves may struggle in school, get into frequent trouble, and find it hard to get along with others or make friends. These frustrations and difficulties can lead to low self-esteem as well as friction and stress for the whole family.

But treatment can make a dramatic difference in your child’s symptoms. With the right support, your child can get on track for success in all areas of life. If your child struggles with symptoms that look like ADD/ADHD, don’t wait to seek professional help.

Traditional Medical Approach

Medication has proven effective for many children with ADHD. In most cases, the Central nervous system stimulants are used. They are believed to stimulate the action of the brain’s neurotransmitters, which enables the brain to regulate attention, impulse, and behaviour.

In some cases where stimulants are not suitable, anti-depressant medications are used. Since the drug can help to reduce or control most of the symptoms the child then continue to live by learning and working, etc. But it is very important to check the allergy to the medication before administering it. If the child is allergic to the drug, it is not going to give any expected result.

In some children, where they have an allergy to drugs, their condition could get worse by using these drugs. They may become hyper, violent, irritable beyond control, or may produce unpleasant side effects like itching, hives, eczema, indigestion, bowel and bladder incontinence, etc. In such cases, medication should be stopped immediately and should not be used until the allergy is removed.

Even though we are using thoroughly researched pharmaceutical drugs, drugs are chemical compounds and can have an allergy and few side effects in certain individuals. The allergic reactions and side effects have created constant fear in some people against using drugs. More and more people are becoming conscious of using chemically produced drugs and moving towards using products made by natural means. Long-term use of chemicals can destroy our body’s garbage disposal, the Liver – to go weak; sometimes, damage beyond reversal.

A mother’s point of view

(A real story)

“I am a mother of 2 children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder at the age of 2. We started seeing their autistic behaviours/symptoms after they received MMR vaccination during their 18th month. They were hyperactive and cannot express their emotions through words making it difficult for us to understand them.

At a later stage they started on the DAN (Defeat Autism Now) protocol, they were prescribed antidepressant which helps to improve mood, sleep better, and increase appetite and concentration. But the expected outcome was not seen in my children. Whenever we gave them the medication, they would just sit around and appear listless. This shattered me. I would rather see my kids hyperactive than seeing them like zombies. So we personally decided to discontinue the medications.”

Now we have NAET treatment, which helped many children with allergy-related ADHD/ADD. Sometimes, the only sign of allergy is that they continuously ask for the same foods over and over. There are many causes of Autism, ADD/ADHD as well as other behavioural problems; among the causes are allergies to artificial food colourings, food additives, chemicals, radiation, vaccinations, food allergies, as well as other things,  with NAET, these children can be treated and possibly lead a normal life.

NAET uses Muscle Response Testing technique (MRT), which allows us to know if a child is holding on to repressed emotions or is reacting to foods, clothing, radiation, or something in his environment.  With each test, we can eliminate the chemical sensitivity, allergies that hinders the flow of energy thus restoring the body to function normally.

The NAET Treatment Procedure

Step 1 – Isolate the offending allergen using NTT (Nambudripad’s Testing Techniques: Muscle response testing, and/or non-invasive skin resistant testing, also encourages the use of standardized laboratory testing like RAST, Eliza act, etc.)

Step 2 – Mild acupressure on specific pre-determined acupuncture points by the practitioner on the specific meridians

Step 3 – Complete avoidance of the treated allergen for 25 hours following the treatment.

After 25 hours the practitioner needs to retest the treated allergen for the completeness of the treatment. In most cases, it takes one treatment (one office visit) to eliminate the allergy if the treatment is administered properly, and 25 hour – avoidance is followed. In some extreme cases, it may take more than one office visit per item.

How does NAET work

NAET can remove the adverse effect of any allergic food in the body including all the above-listed food products, and create homeostasis in the body in the present of the offending allergen (without avoiding for life).

During the NAET treatment, your brain will create a new friendly memory towards the allergen and will imprint and store in the memory bank. During the process, the old memory about the allergen’s adverse effect is erased or forgotten.

After completion of the NAET treatment, the allergen becomes non-allergen and an irritant becomes non- irritant to your energy field and the body will learn to relax naturally in the presence of the new friendly substance.

ADHD Success Story with NAET

It sounds like magic or too good to be true, Isn’t it?

It is easier than many other treatments available now. But nothing comes that easy. You have to work hard to find your allergens and/ or find a doctor who is NAET practitioner. Please read the book “Say Goodbye To Illness”, by Dr. Devi S. Nambudripad. This book will help you to find your child’s allergens.
