Candida Albicans Overgrowth – Facts Every Women Should Know

What is Candida Albicans

Candida is a fungus commonly found in all of us, they are normally found on the skin, in our mouth and throat, our stomach, colon, rectum, and vagina. People commonly call it a Digestive Fungal Infestation, Thrush or Vagininal Candidiasis when it spirals out of control. There are several strands of Candida, but the most common one is Candida Albicans.

Candida has been creating havoc in women for ages, especially in the developed nations. Many Dubai residents (women) are silent sufferers of this alarming issue. Many of them aren’t even aware that they have Candida, and a lab test will only tell ‘present‘ or ‘not present‘ There is no specific scale to measure Candida.  However, there is a simpler way to know if you have Candida or not.

Candida Spit Test at Home

This home test is the most effective and straightforward way to know if you have Candida. Here’s how it works:

When you wake up in the morning before you brush your teeth or drink anything, take a glass (transparent glass), fill it with tap water to the brim. Now collect the saliva from your mouth (not the phlegm) and spit into the glass. Saliva usually forms bubbles and dissipates soon, however, if you have Candida, you will see thick white mucous that floats on top and soon begins to descend to the bottom. It forms white strings as seen in this picture. This basically is Candida Albicans.

Candida Infections (Nail)

There an easy way to recognize fungus, if it is in the nail. Your nails will be brittle and can easily get chipped. There will also be a discoloration, mostly yellow. You could have white, powdery discharges too when it’s overgrown and your immune system is struggling to combat it.

How it Destroys our Gut

Normally Candida lives in our digestive tract, the Acidophilus and Bifidus Lactobacilli prevent the Candida from multiplying. But poor diet, stress, and antibiotics (which kills the friendly flora) alter the intestinal terrain. This not only encourages the Candida to proliferate but also allows the relatively benign, less sophisticated yeast form to bloom into a dangerous full-blown fungus whose fruiting bodies produce long branches or stalks that puncture the lining of the gut. Such extensive damage causes the leaky gut syndrome, during which partially digested food escapes the intestinal wall, where it then poisons the bloodstream and inflames the tissue.

Candida Elimination Diet

This is what you’ve been waiting for 🙂

Well, I’m gonna give out my best secret in controlling this fungal overgrowth. Let me begin with the foods that feed Candida.  Sugar and Carbohydrates. Yes!!! carbs get converted to sugars and don’t forget the high fructose sugars in fruits like dates (favorite in the Middle East), papaya, jackfruit, dry raisins, grapes, mango, sugarcane.

When you cut out sugars from your diet, the first 3-4 four days are the most difficult but don’t worry, it gets better soon. On the fifth day, most of your cravings would have gone and you will experience complete ‘bliss‘. In the first 4 days, be prepared for mood swings, temper tantrums, extreme craving for sugars and carbs.

Secondly, eliminate foods high in carbohydrates., like bread, pasta, noodles, rice. Essentially rice and wheat. Within 4-6 weeks, your body will starve the Candida and deplete their numbers.

Since you are off carbs and sugars include lots of veggies, preferably green leafy ones into your diet.

Supplements to Support Candida

Certain nutritional supplements can help your body eliminate the debris with minimum discomfort. B5 and B7, which is Pantothenic acid and Biotin. This help neutralizes the alcohol-rich Candida toxin and builds intestinal flora that eats up Candida. Biotin thwarts Candida from transforming into its more dangerous fungal form.

Raw garlic is a helpful, all-around natural antibiotic. Magnesium assists in the intercellular transport of nutrients. Activated charcoal, taken with food and supplements, mops up the mycotoxins.

Candida feeds on Heavy Metals

This may come as a surprise to you, but research shows Candida and other fungi feed on heavy metals. A heavy metal test would be necessary for some with a stubborn infestation.

Candida Treatment

When these home remedies are not much of a help, you could turn to a non-invasive way to bring down candida. One of them is Bioresonance. It’s a light therapy that works effectively and gently on those stubborn fungi.

Beneficial Herbs to treat Candida

Pau-d'arco for candida

I’d like to name two important herbs here, one of them is difficult to find in the Middle East. Chaparral or the Cteoosote bush is indigenous to the American Southwest and is used for centuries by the Native Americans. Pau d’ arco from the Tabebuia Avellanedae tree is regarded as an anti-fungal agent that works effectively on Candida. Get the Herbal Isopathic Remedy that works equally well.

Candida in Allergies

Surprised? Almost all of them with severe Eczema will have Candida, it goes hand in hand with allergies. Skin rashes, dermatitis, and psoriasis have an emotional component as well….. STRESS!!! Notice I have capitalized the word ‘stress’, it is the underlying cause in Candida Overgrowth as it weakens the immune system

Candida in Autism

If you have a child in the Autism Spectrum Disorder, make sure you remove sugar completely from his/her diet along with gluten and dairy. Autism is a gut/brain related issue that ravages the intestinal walls in a child, causing most gut related problems, leading to severe constipation issues. Most of the children in the spectrum may not poop for several days. The lack of nutrients and an unbalanced microbiome destroys their immune system.

How Candida Overgrowth wrecks relationships

When you are perpetually plagued with mood swings, irritability, depression, low libido, and frequent UTIs, it affects your relationship with your partner. Most women are unaware of the havoc created by this fungus that constantly craves sugar. Now you know why you crave certain foods when you’re angry, depressed and irritated. This also leads to weight gain and you will be struggling to lose those pounds even with your rigorous workouts. The best way to fix this is to fix your diet. By starving them of their foods, you will eventually reduce their numbers and your Immune system will take over and bring them under control.

Stress propels Candida

Stress weakens your Immune System, period. When your guards are down, the fungus has a field day. Antibiotics too have a similar effect by destroying the gut bacteria and thus weakening the much-needed T-cells.

Conclusion

You may not even remember much of what you have read above. that’s okay. All you need is a start, a fresh start!!! Start by changing your food, remove all chocolates from your fridge and cut your red wine. You may feel very low for a couple of days, but thereafter its a bliss.
